10/2/2006 North American factory certified
for Class 1A Chromate

Laconia, NH, USA October 2, 2006. Aavid Thermalloy, LLC has added a high performance chromate finish to the automated finishing line in Laconia NH. The Laconia plant is now certified to produce aluminum heatsinks with a Class 1A finish per Mil-C-5441. Previously relying on outside vendors, this new capability allows Aavid to reduce lead-times and costs as well as maintain tighter quality controls. Many customers in the military and other industries, who are exempt from recent RoHS requirements, do not want to move away from this standard chromate finish due to corrosion performance issues. This certification positions Aavid to service these markets where performance is critical.
