Thermal Assemblies

Design optimization, process development, and high-volume manufacturing of difficult thermal management subassemblies are everyday challenges at Aavid Thermalloy's thermal assemblies facilities. This group of skilled engineers and project managers takes on new designs that are challenging to manufacture or existing designs that prove difficult due to quality or cost constraints.

Fabricated Assemblies

We specialize in high-complexity, engineered thermal management assemblies, which often employ a series of high-level assembly processes that must be tightly controlled to produce successful products. Heat pipe assemblies employing bonded fin condensers, fabricated tube and plate cold plates, copper brazed assemblies, and active cooling assemblies requiring air movers/fans with speed and temperature control systems are examples of this technology.

Aavid Thermalloy manages the design, prototyping, and volume manufacturing of these parts in a highly controlled manner. Initial customer contact typically identifies a candidate project for this program. An Aavid project manager becomes part of the customer’s design team in a true partnership arrangement. This manager has a support team that designs both process controls and quality manufacturing plans to develop the new product through preproduction into full volume production in one of Aavid's 12 worldwide manufacturing locations. Complete first article analysis, FMEAs, and customer control of the Gantt chart timeline are just part of the established product introduction process used to bring difficult thermal assemblies to reality.
