Proper interface material selection is important when mounting devices with clips because the force provided by clips are lower than screws and bolts.
For some interface materials lower force = reduced thermal performance.
We recommend the use of phase change materials or grease with Max Clips because the thermal resistance is nearly independent of the mounting pressure.
The graph below shows test data for several common materials.
